Global Browse Images

The global browse images are created by projecting the 5km coarse spatial resolution products or the full resolution products if the resolution is coarser than 5km, such as aerosol products, which are of 10km resolution. The products are projected into a global coordinate system with 20km pixels in the Hammer-Aitoff projection, except the sea ice products which have 14.15km pixels in the Lambert Azimuthal projection. These global browse images are generated with fixed contrast stretching and color look-up tables to enable consistent temporal comparison.

Notices:

The global browse images are meant to provide a quick look at the products generated by LANCE-MODIS and should not be used for scientific analysis. Also, due to the differences between the standard and NRT products, the global browse images should not be compared with those at the LDOPE QA Browse web site. The ice surface temperature is displayed in place of sea ice for night time since sea ice is not retrieved for night time granules. For information about known issues with these products, please see MODIS NRT QA - Known Product Issues - Terra and MODIS NRT QA - Known Product Issues - Aqua.
